Ben There, Dan That…

Ben There, Dan That is an indie adventure game produced by Zombie Cow Studios using Adventure Game Studio.

The game focuses around the adventures of two Londoners by the names of Ben and Dan, who seem to be caught up in some very random adventures in the modern world.

Not really aspiring to much, both Ben and Dan seem to get their greatest satisfaction in spending their time either stuck in the local pub or watching television but for one reason or another they often find themselves caught up in sticky situations that require a bit of lateral thinking to get them out.

The beginning of the story leads our two questionable heroes on a quest to build a make shift TV antenna, simple enough, except when the job’s finished they happen to get whisked away to an alternate dimension…..

The game loosely borrows its style from the famous Lucasarts game Day of the Tentacle and possibly a little from the movie Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure, Depicting two fool hardy characters on a desperately get out of trouble and somehow accidently save the world in the process.

At first glance the game doesn’t appear to be offering up too much out of the ordinary but with a little perseverance you will find a uniquely quirky story that provides lots of quick witted humour and one liners along the way.

The graphics are adventure game lo-res and depict a kind of roughly drawn post-it note cartoon style, which takes a little bit of getting used to but shows real flair and imagination on the part of the designers. Fortunately even with it’s rough edges the games graphics are used to good effect.

Ben There, Dan That may not be everyone’s cup of tea but if you are looking for a game that’s a little different with lots of amusing dialogue and gags, then this might just be your thing!
